Guinea Worm is a parasitic infection spread through unclean drinking water. It causes intense debilitating pain (so much that it was nicknamed "the fiery serpent"), and was once extremely prevalent across Asia and Africa. The Carter Center has worked hard to fight against Guinea Worm, and now, it's on track to be the second disease to be eradicated after smallpox. |
