Harvard Law Professor and longtime political activist Lawrence Lessig wants to win the presidency of the United States to accomplish one critical objective: ending the corrupting influence of money on politics. With that done, he says he’ll step down and let someone else take over the Oval Office. It’s a radical notion, the single-issue presidential candidacy, but as he points out, only a radical solution can wrest back control of our democracy from the monied interests who have steadily come to dominate American political life.

In this exclusive interview, Lessig and The Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur discuss:

- The Kickstarter campaign that will decide whether Lessig officially runs for president.
- Why, even if one of them were to become president, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton have no hope of eliminating money from politics.
- Why the American people would get behind a one-issue candidacy to get money out of politics.
- Why the Democratic party is as guilty as Republicans for the current corrupt system.
- Whether Donald Trump’s candidacy is helpful or harmful to the cause of money in politics.
- The Three Prongs of Political Corruption that a Citizen Equality Act would deal with.
- Whether he would govern as president on other issues while trying to pass the Citizen Equality Act.
- How the fight against money in politics is the Civil Rights issue of our time, and that now is when the American people need to come together in shared sacrifice to take back democracy.

The activist, blogger and DJ who goes by the name “Fumes” has built a large following on Twitter and Tumblr by voicing strong objection to white appropriation of African-American culture, calling out white privilege in all its forms and targeting the fashion industry for what she describes as “Columbusing, colonizing and exploiting” black culture for profit without acknowledging the centuries of suffering, discrimination and exploitation that helped inform black Americans’ unique cultural expressions.

In this exclusive TYTInterview, Fumes and The Young Turks’ Ana Kasparian discuss:

- Their Twitter feud over “white feminism” that led to this interview
- What cultural appropriation looks like
- Allure Magazine’s celebration of Kylie Jenner’s cornrows
- The complicated history and expression of black hair
- Why everyone in American culture is encouraged to look “as European as possible.”
- Whether calling out celebrities for appropriating black culture is acceptable
- Why Rachel Doleful has no right to pretend to be black
- The #BlackLivesMatter movement activists who disrupted Bernie Sanders’ rallies
- White feminism as a subset of white privilege
- Why white - and black - feminists need to understand and celebrate “intersectionality.”

On April 15, 2015, 61-year-old rural mail carrier Doug Hughes grabbed headlines after flying his one-man gyrocopter from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to Washington DC and touching down on the west lawn of the Capitol building, bringing with him 535 letters - one for each member of Congress to draw attention to the pressing need for campaign finance reform.

In this interview with The Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur, Hughes talks about:

- How he came up with the idea for his historic flight
- Whether he was concerned about being shot out of the air
- How politicians, the moneyed interests and the mainstream media all conspire to perpetuate a corrupt system
- How the right and left can come together to battle corporate cronyism and government corruption
- The felony and misdemeanor charges against him and the upcoming trial that could send him away for X years in prison
- How crony capitalism and a corrupt Congress are intentionally driving the US Postal Service into bankruptcy
- The next stunt he’s planning to shake Americans out of their complacency about the need to get money out of politics and restore democracy.

He also has a nationwide action planned to coincide with his trial during which he hopes to have volunteers 'out' retired local congressional representatives who are now earning millions as lobbyists. The goal: tie the local 'scandal' to the national story and the trial which is the story of the day. Reach out to Doug on Twitter if you want to participate.

One of the earliest digital entrepreneurs, Drew Curtis built Fark.com into a hugely popular news aggregation site to rival Huffington Post, Drudge Report and Yahoo. Now he’s set his sights on a new challenge: an upstart independent campaign for governor of Kentucky, running on a platform of getting money out of politics, data-driven policy making and adopting best practices from other states’ experiences. Does he really have a chance?

In this interview, Curtis and The Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur discuss:

- What, exactly, “Fark” means anyway
- How idiotic non-news has come to dominate the mainstream news media
- Whether the electorate is primed for a candidate who’s not about “business as usual”
- Massive government corruption that’s hidden in plain sight
- Can a gubernatorial candidate win by admitting that his/her state is not number one?
- How fact-and-data-based governance would function
- Curtis’ chances of breaking up the two-party duopoly in Kentucky and across the country

Norman Lear is a living legend, a pioneering TV producer who rewrote the rules for network television with ground-breaking shows like “All in the Family,” “The Jeffersons,” “Maude,” “Sanford and Son” and “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman.” He then turned his attention to politics, founding “People for the American Way,” an influential progressive advocacy group defending foundational Constitutional rights including free speech, freedom of religion and equal protection under the law. Now he’s documented his fascinating 90+ years on earth in a new memoir titled “Even This I Get to Experience.”

In this interview, Lear and The Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur discuss:

- Why, even though he’s a standard-bearer for “liberal Hollywood, he considers himself “deeply conservative”
- How a quarter flipped to him by an uncle changed the trajectory of his life
- Why being a good liar got him fired from his first job as a press agent
- Which are his favorite TV shows of all time (number three may surprise you!)
- The experience in an airport terminal that made him realize that he’d finally “made it.”
- Why Republicans today never talk about President Eisenhower

Alex Winter rose to prominence in the 1980s, starring in hit films like “Lost Boys” and “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.” He later turned to writing, producing and directing, and has since directed “Downloaded,” the acclaimed documentary about the rise and fall of Napster, as well as his most recent effort, “Deep Web, the Untold Story of Bitcoin and the Silk Road.”

In this interview, Winter and The Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur discuss:

- The origins of the Deep Web and Darknet as a haven for government agents, dissidents, activists and artists
- The parallels between the rise and fall of Napster and Silk Road
- How the Silk Road became the eBay of virtual drug sales
- The mix of libertarian absolutists, anti-drug warriors and high tech mercenaries who drove the Deep Web’s growth
- How manipulation by corrupt cops and DEA agents could have brought down the Silk Road
- The government’s “weird” case claiming accused Silk Road administrator Ross Ulbricht is the notorious “Dread Pirate Roberts”
- Are government investigators technologically incompetent or just lying to us?
- Cenk’s decisive guilty or not guilty vote in Ross Ulbricht’s criminal case

Aasif Mandvi established himself as a working actor in Hollywood in the 1990s and early 2000s appearing on TV shows like Miami Vice, CSI, Law & Order, The Sopranos and Oz. But he became a household — if often mispronounced — name after joining The Daily Show with Jon Stewart as a “Senior Foreign-Looking Correspondent” in 2006.

Today Mandvi writes, produces and stars in a comedy web series poking fun at 80s sitcoms and anti-Muslim bias called “Halal in the Family” (http://halalinthefamily.tv)

In this interview, he talks with The Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur about:

- Turning down The Daily Show with Jon Stewart’s initial offer for him to audition
- Why his youth spent in the north of England helped him as an adult trying to pick up American women
- How 9/11 changed everything for American Muslims
- How “Halal in the Family” was inspired by news anchor Katie Couric
- Long-standing Muslim traditions that CELEBRATE portraits of the Prophet Muhammad
- What motivates “New Atheists” like Bill Maher and Sam Harris to generalize about Muslims
- How his acting career was inspired in equal parts by The Fonz and Omar Sharif
- Why he once told a casting agent he’d be willing to learn how to be a snake charmer

Karen Straughan is a self-styled "anti-feminist" and spokesperson for the group Men's Rights Edmonton. She has a popular blog (http://owningyourshit.blogspot.com) and YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/user/girlwriteswhat) where she talks about a range of gender-related issues, in particular fathers' rights and domestic violence against men.

Watch the interview to see whether she and Cenk Uygur agree or disagree over issues like:

- "Excessive" alimony and child support judgments against wealthy men in divorce proceedings.
- Whether early feminists were more interested in gaining more privileges at the expense of men rather than true equality.
- If circumcision of boys is equally bad as female genital mutilation.
- If suffragettes were true heroes or if they were fighting for rights that they would have soon been granted anyway.

Find out Karen Straughan's thoughts on all the above topics and much, much more in this installment of TYT Interviews.

Pastor James David Manning of ATLAH World Missionary Church has gone back and forth with Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian, and The Young Turks, and today they attempt to set the record straight. What did Pastor Manning mean when he said he wanted to stone gay men and wants Harlem to be a homo-free zone? Could Starbucks really be mixing "gay semen" into coffee because of the delicious taste? Is Manning himself tempted by homosexuality, which he describes as a choice? And what about his statements criticizing black male celebrities and speakers? Manning also addresses his statements that President Obama is neither black nor the president, and that he had also shot the mother his alleged love child outside the White House. Can an unaccredited university discredit a school with accreditation? Can it discredit the state of New York?

Cenk and Ana also ask Manning straight on about his previous derogatory comments on Cenk's race as well as Ana's higher education and the indisputable fact that she is a woman.

Find out Pastor Manning's answers to all the above questions and much, much more in this fascinating installment of TYT Interviews
